Is coaching a must to crack the IAS exam?
Before you read my answer i might such as you to pay little more attention to the subsequent facts :
I am an aspirant not an expert, therefore what i'm close to tell you'll not be Aum Shinrikyo and that i am hospitable every CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Isn’t that the way how we all should learn?
Therefore my experiences/suggestions/anecdotes would be limited to the present institute only. I even have no friend who studies in the other institute therefore i might decline to comment about the other coaching institute.
I have not yet qualified the exam, Prelims 2019 are about 3 months away which might be my first attempt.
Whenever we decide for an expedition to an relatively unknown location, the primary question which involves our mind is where and the way to travel there. Similarly, whenever a bug bites us and that we plan to steel oneself against a competitive exam, the primary question which involves our mind is should I join a training institute or not and if yes which one?
This is precisely the point where we reach a dilemma. Dilemma may be a situation where we've two options and there's no doubt regarding which among them is true or wrong as both appear to be right.
The first dilemma :
Is coaching a must to crack the IAS exam?
The moment idea of taking UPSC CSE rises, we all ask internet and YouTube. the primary interaction is usually of the coaching institutes where the toppers discuss their strategies. this is often followed by blogs, online forums and that we find yourself at some random coaching institute website. The impression left in our mind is XYZ student qualified by joining a specific institute. And most the toppers, this I can say with conviction are related to some coaching institute either by classroom coaching or test series or interview guidance etc.
And this reinforces the urge to hitch a training institute. subsequent hurdle is funding. Majority folks are hooked in to our parents hard-earned money to fund the coaching tuition fees. And at heart our heart, we think, that our parents think, that the guy/girl has now completed college and would be earning soon and there would be now some relief to the oldsters but here are you who is getting to add another few lakhs to their expenditure. So, you exactly don’t skills do you have to put this proposal to your parents.
The second dilemma :
If you've got decided to not join the IAS coaching institute, you'll always have the sensation that you simply are missing something.
And once you join a training institute, you think, yaar, I could have learnt all this with none coaching
Therefore, dear fellow aspirants believe yourself. Have the courage and faith to accomplish your dreams. If you'll consider preparing, you'll also alright accomplish it. it might be difficult, but it might even be very rewarding. Use internet judiciously. Use notes and resources of any coaching institute of your choice. you'll get rewarded.
Use the subsequent analogy to make a decision whether to hitch a training institute or not :
Some people fall sick, don't choose a treatment to the doctor and obtain well on their own. There are others who would take some medicine either recommended by some relative/friend or do self medication and would recover . There also are some patients who would run to the physician even for a trivial headache. And there are some who despite making rounds at the foremost expensive hospital never recover .
I joined coachings keeping in mind the subsequent factors:
CONSISTENCY : it had been the foremost important factor at play. UPSC preparation may be a year long process. you would like to stay yourself involved and motivated every single day. getting to classes everyday kept me involved and gave structure to my preparation. I knew my evenings are going to be spent in school . So I studied my best within the mornings. Before I realised my day was over. This help me prevent all distractions and value the time I had. At the top of the day, taking note of some good lectures also increase your knowledge domain.
HOLISTIC COVERAGE: Studying standard books is important . that you simply must do on your own. However, an honest teacher can introduce you to the minute details and their different meanings. they will cause you to check out things from a special perspective. While studying we frequently miss on certain areas and that they will get covered in classes. this manner you're prepared wholesomely.
You meet serious aspirants to compete with and learn from. It keeps a check on your complacency and challenges you. I gave every test and assignment seriously. I submitted answers for feedback and attended each class with full concentration.
It is a incontrovertible fact that , General Studies for UPSC isn't rocket science. It are often comfortably covered on your own. you'll need coaching for your subjects, specially if you're changing streams. Most UPSC IAS Coachings are overpriced and over hyped. Staying in Delhi are often very expensive. There are better alternatives like online platforms, online classes etc.
It's your attempt and you would like to form your own choices, so that, you give your best in the least costs. Attending coachings doesn't ensure your selection, not attending them doesn't weaken your chances. you've got one year, learn from all sources possible. Do everything to stay yourself involved. Attend good lectures. attend IAS classes Online because it causes you to consistent and provides a structure to your preparation. If you are feeling you'll do better studying on your own, don't fear making that choice. there's no standard thanks to clear UPSC, the sole right way is that the one that works for you.
