SYLLABUS FOR RAS

The first stage is the preliminary exam, the second stage is Mains examination and the third stage is Interview.
Preliminary Examination:
The pattern for the preliminary exam is objective in nature. there's just one paper which carries 200 marks. the quality of the preliminary paper is that of a Bachelor’s Degree level and is conducted for the aim of screening only. The syllabus consists of public knowledge and General Science only. Again, the questions cover the mains syllabus for objective type also wherein questions from History, Geography, Economics, Public Administration and Polity, etc are always present. the foremost important factor to recollect while attempting the Prelims examination is that there's negative marking and 1/3rd mark are going to be deducted for each wrong answer given by the candidate.
Mains Examination:
The written examination consists of 4 papers and therefore the papers are descriptive and analytical in nature. Each paper consists of 200 marks and is to be attempted within 3 hours.
Paper-1 – General Studies-I: it's three units i.e. History, Economics and Sociology, Management and Business Administration.

Paper-3 – General Studies – III: It also contains three units i.e. Indian form of government, World Politics, and Current Affairs; Public Administration; Administrative Ethics, Behavior and Law
Paper-4 – General Hindi and General English
Interview
There is no set syllabus for the interview which is the end of the choice for the RAS. A candidate who does well within the interview possesses a sporting chance to be finally selected and posted within the state government officials. The questions which are posted to the candidate are fairly simple in nature in order that the overall aptitude, confidence, personality, and therefore the seriousness of the candidate is often adjudged. At times, questions based upon the present affairs and awareness are asked to check the overall knowledge of the candidate.
