SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 & Tier 4

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

SSC CGL is a web standardized test that follows a particular procedure and is split into four stages/levels: Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3 & Tier-4. While the Tier-I & Tier-II exam is going to be conducted online, Tier-III are going to be a pen and paper based exam and Tier-IV are going to be a computer skill test.

The pattern of the four tiers are going to be as follows:

Tier – I: Objective Multiple Choice – (Computer Based) (online)

Tier – II: Objective Multiple Choice – (Computer Based) (online)

Tier – III: Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi (Pen and Paper mode)

Tier – IV: Data Entry Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test

SSC CGL Tier – I Exam Pattern

Tier – I of the SSC CGL exam will contain objective type questions from four sections that test you on four different parameters. there'll be altogether 100 questions worth 200 marks with a composite time duration of an hour.

There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks on each incorrect answer.

There will not be any sectional cut-off within the exam.

The Tier-I exam is going to be bilingual (Hindi & English). The candidates can select their medium accordingly.

SSC CGL Tier-II Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-II exam also will get on an equivalent pattern containing four sections comprising of 100 questions in each of the four sections having 200 marks for every section and doesn't have a composite timing but individual time is allotted to every section.

There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks on each incorrect answer.

There will not be any sectional cut-off within the exam.

The Tier-II exam also will be bilingual (Hindi & English). The candidates can select their medium accordingly.

Paper-I & II are compulsory for all the categories of posts.

Paper-III is merely for those candidates who apply for the post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler.

Paper IV is merely for those candidates who apply for the post of Assistant Audit Officer.

The marks obtained by the candidates in both Tiers I & Tier II would determine their eligibility to seem in Tier III & Tier IV.

SSC CGL Tier- III Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Tier – III exam is held during a different mode than the opposite two tiers. Tier-III of SSC CGL is going to be a descriptive test. The paper is going to be bilingual (English/Hindi) and can constitute of 100 marks with a time duration of an hour.

Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi (Writing of Essay, Precis, Letter, Application, etc.) 100 60 minutes

The candidate is going to be required to write down down an Essay / Passage of 250 words and a Letter / Application of roughly 150 words.

The qualifying marks in Tier-III would be ‘33 percent’.

The questions during this paper would be of 10+2 standard.

SSC CGL Tier- IV Exam Pattern ( Wherever Applicable)

SSC CGL Tier- IV may be a Data Entry Skill Test / Computer Proficiency Test. This stage was added in 2016 counting on the varied positions applied by the candidates. it'll be conducted in two steps: DEST Test & CPT Test.

Data Entry Speed Test (DEST): Here, the candidates are required to enter data at the speed of 2000 key presses in a quarter-hour. this is often mainly for positions like Tax Assistant. (Central Excise & Income Tax)
